Auditions, New Play Readings and Staged Readings

New Play Festival

Staged Readings

Staged Readings will be held in the Community Room in The Emporium Center, 100 South Gay Street, Knoxville.

Saving Grace by James McLinden Sat, Feb 9, 2:00 pm

Reunion Under The Moon by Craig Smith Sat, Feb 16, 2:00 pm

All staged readings are free to the public. For over ten years the Tennessee Stage Company has presented a New Play Festival including World Premiere performances as well as readings and staged readings of new, unproduced scripts. The playwright attends the readings and afterwards a discussion is held with the playwright, cast and audience on the script. All readings are free to the public.

We have two very special playwrights this year. Saving Grace is written by James McLindon the author of our 2006 New Play Festival featured production, Distant Music, which has subsequently been produced multiple times around the country.

Reunion Under The Moon is written by Knoxville writer Craig Smith who has been involved in the New Play Festival for years as an actor and play reader and is well known by local audiences.

Each playwright will be attending the staged reading of their play and will be part of the discussion afterwards. Come and hear the readings and meet these two distinguished playwrights.
