The Tennessee Stage Company, known to Knoxville audiences for Shakespeare on the Square and the New Play Festival, returns to our Timeless Works series this autumn with Sam & Bella Spewack’s holiday classic, My Three Angels. This (mostly) gentle  comedy is the story of a three unconventional convicts who provide a loving, yet struggling family with a most happy and unexpected Christmas.

SYNOPSIS: In a prison colony in French Guiana, where the temperature on Christmas Eve has graciously dropped to 104 degrees, a small French Family running a not-terribly-successful general store has a bleak holiday to look forward to. The father’s Scrooge-like cousin is coming to audit the books, which won’t look good because the father is too kind-hearted to be a hard-nosed businessman. To make matters worse, the daughter is in love with the cousin’s son, whom the cousin has arranged to marry an heiress, not some poor distant relation. The family’s salvation arrives in the strangest angels imaginable – three convicts, working on the roof of their store. All three have warm hearts and are passionate believers – in their own way – in true justice. Possessing every criminal art and penal grace, they set matters aright, and in so doing redeem themselves as real life angels to the grateful family.

My Three Angels is a collaboration with the Historic Southern Railway Station, newly renovated and now operated as an event space by the Blueslip Winery. This beautiful structure makes  a perfect backdrop for the simplicity and whimsy of our Timeless Works productions.

Timeless Works was conceived by the Stage Company as a benefit series to help raise funds for our other programs: Shakespeare on the Square, the New Play Festival and our Education & Outreach programs. All the artists donate their time and talents and all funds raised go directly back into the work of the Company.

Please join us at the Historic Southern Railway Station this November for My Three Angels.

MY THREE ANGELS runs November 5 – 15, 2015. Purchase tickets online.
