New Play Festival 2018

This year’s Tennessee Stage New Play Festival presents a fully staged World Premiere presentation of The Senator’s Wife by North Carolina playwright C. Robert Jones; a staged reading of Under De–Tox by Don Kapa; and table readings of Amazing Graces by Lea McMahan, Indian Giver by Michael Reiman, and Swimming Upstream by Rich Rubin. Dates for the New Play Festival begin with table readings in early February and the final performances concluding in late March.

A comedy in which a motley assortment of humanity is thrown together overnight in a de-tox center that is one step away from the drunk tank. A halfway house of sorts becomes home to a most unusual family. What could possibly go wrong?

World Premiere Production: The Senator’s Wife

IATW_posterThe New Play Festival rounds out with a World Premiere presentation of a new play. This year’s full production is  I Am The Way by Scott Strahan, directed by Tom Parkhill.

McRae Allen hates his job, so he finds a new one. He becomes an Internet evangelist and watches the cash, and death threats, come rolling in. I Am The Way runs March 6 – 22, Thursdays – Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm, at Theatre Knoxville Downtown*.
