Submission Rules and Eligibility for 2024-2025 New Play Festival Selection
Our submissions for the 2024 Night of Shorts are now closed.
However, if you are a Tennessee playwright who resides in Knox, Anderson, Union, Grainger, Jefferson, Sevier, Blount, Loudon, Roane, or Hamblen Counties, we will begin looking for playwrights to work with during the 2024 calendar year for our 2025 Festival on February 15th, 2024.
First and foremost, we would love for you to come check out every or any part of our 2024 New Play Festival. There, you will have a chance to meet the program coordinators, H. Caitlin Corbitt and David Ratliff, as well as our Executive Artistic Director, Tom Parkhill. Joining us for our Staged Reading (Thursday Feb. 8, 2024) of Jeanette Brown’s Cuba Libre, or for our Table Work Sessions (Saturdays, Feb. 3 & 10, 2024) featuring Emily Pope’s Potential & Steve Sherman’s Grief, will give you a chance to see our adoption of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process in action, as well as get an idea of what we look to provide to our local playwrights going forward.
To learn more about the changes now underway with our 30+ year-old new works program, read our Statement of Change here.

Special Thanks to Tiger Lily Theatre and the women who ran it. Without the impact of Founding Artistic Director Jennifer Brown and the company’s original Night of Shorts productions, this step in the festival’s growth would not be the same.
