The Tennessee Stage Company will present a series of 10-minute plays in January 2024 under the direction of David Ratliff and H. Caitlin Corbitt.
Eligibility
- Playwright must be a resident of Knox County or a contiguous county (Anderson, Union, Grainger, Jefferson, Sevier, Blount, Loudon, Roane, plus Hamblen)
- Plays must not have been produced. We are looking for new work.
- Deadline for submission is November 25, 2023 by Midnight, EST.
- Playwrights may submit up to two entries, but only one might be produced.
Script Requirements
- Plays must address the theme: Change
- Plays must include the words: “You’ve convinced me, but don’t tell Henry.” This line can be broken up, but should be recognizable to the audience.
- Submitted plays should run between 9 to 11 minutes with a cast of 2 to 6 actors.
- No musicals or plays for children.
Format
- Entries will be blind judged. Include a separate cover letter with contact information (including address) and the title of submission.
- On the script’s header, you must number the pages and include the title of the play. Do not include the playwright’s name on the script pages.
- Email entries to: Tom@TennesseeStage.com and put “Shorts” in the subject line. Attach the play and separate cover letter as separate PDFs.
Selection and Performance
- 8 to 9 plays will be selected for performance.
- Selected playwrights will receive an award of $250.
- Performances of the collected shorts will take place on February 2nd through February 11th, 2024 at Theatre Knoxville Downtown.
